OECD Secretary-General congratulates U.S. President-elect Barack Obama

07/11/2008 - OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría has written to U.S. President-elect Barack Obama congratulating him on his election victory and stating the Organisation’s commitment to working closely and productively with his Administration.
In his letter, Mr. Gurría wrote: "I warmly congratulate you on your historic election victory and wish you the best as you embark on what will prove to be a challenging period. Your message of hope and peace that was the touchstone of your campaign brings reassurance during this time of deep economic crisis".
"The OECD stands ready to be of assistance", Mr. Gurria wrote. He assured Mr. Obama that “We look forward to working closely and productively with your Administration in the months and years ahead to make the world economy work better."
